Everything you need to know about
Author Visits
Author visits are great ways to get your students excited about reading, writing, and illustrating. Each author visit is tailored to your school's needs. The presentations are engaging, teach social emotional skills, and also motivate students to work hard at tasks that don't always come easy (like reading and writing did for me!). Below are teacher tools you can use before and after a visit.
The freebies page has printables to use in the classroom.

Show this video before the visit!
This video gives a great overview of what The Traveling Book is all about. Before an author visit, you can show this video and ask these questions.
What do you think the book is about?
Have you heard of Little Free Libraries?
Where do you think the book travels to?
Book Breathing
This is a great tool to use with kids anywhere. This video teaches kids how to take calming breathes . They can use any book, doorway, or anything square or rectangular practice this technique to help calm their body and refocus. Great tool to use while waiting for a specialist to open their door or while waiting in the hallway! Head over to the freebies page and get a classroom printable under the "teacher toolkit".
